SEAN HARRIS is EDDIE

With minimal fees and deferred payment (like the rest of the cast and crew) our lead actor Sean Harris gave us the performance of his life. Sean memorably played Joy Division’s Ian Curtis in 24-HOUR PARTY PEOPLE. After co-starring in ASYLUM (by YOUNG ADAM director David Mackenzie, with Ian McKellen and Natasha Richardson) and CREEP, Sean played ‘Mr Big’ Nick Sidney in BROTHERS OF THE HEAD, causing a stir at the Toronto, Berlin* and Edinburgh Film Festivals of 2006. Sean played Moors murderer Ian Brady in the acclaimed Granada two-part drama SEE NO EVIL, broadcast to millions of viewers in the UK and winner of the BAFTA Award for Best Television Drama 2007. Our Sean is the fat man who gets very thin in Mark Ronson’s pop promo.

It was after seeing Sean as Ian Curtis that we contacted him about SAXON. He loved the script and said yes, so we auditioned nobody else. He is EDDIE – a Londoner, a broken cowboy, a haunted anti-hero, an Oedipal Clint. THIS IS SEAN’S FIRST-EVER FEATURE FILM LEAD ROLE.

*ABOUT BROTHERS OF THE HEAD:

…the Panorama opener Brothers of the Head, an enjoyably twisted and self-mocking comedy about the moment when the 1975 pub rock scene shaded into punk. Brothers follows conjoined twins whose desire to be punk stars is exploited by a Mr Big… a sharp script, some committed performances and stunning digital photography… to give it the grit and fury missing from other 1970s recreations.”

-Nick James, Sight&Sound, April 2006

SARAH MATRAVERS is LINDA

Known to TV viewers from Footballers’ Wives, Sarah is perfectly cast as LINDA. She confidently projects the hard-edged glamour of an ambitious wife who has coached her boxer husband into celebrity-millionaire status via a quiz show.

HENRY KELLY is NICKO

In a cameo role as the quiz show host NICKO, Henry Kelly is familiar as the real-life quiz show host of Going For Gold. The voice of Classic FM and the ironic face of Asahi’s ‘dry’ celebrity ad campaign, this is Henry’s first feature film role.

TONY O’LEARY is SALMON

Loved and feared by Operation Good Guys fans, Tony brings a terrifying force to the character of SALMON, the brutal fishmonger who cuts out our protagonist’s eye and so kick-starts SAXON.
